In a few short weeks, depending
on where you live, it’ll be time to open the windows and let
in fresh, warm spring air.
Spring is a time for renewal
and shedding of winter frost. That’s why people put so much
effort into spring cleaning. It’s the perfect opportunity to
do a deep cleaning of every room as well as the exterior of the home.
The kitchen is our
focus today. Even if you have a few more weeks left until warm weather
descends, it’s not too early to prepare for spring cleaning.
While you wait until spring arrives, gather all of your cleaning
materials. Buy bottles of pine cleaner, ammonia, or whichever cleaner
you prefer, including window cleaner. Make sure there are plenty of
cleaning clothes or sponges and paper towels on hand.
This spring, plan on washing
the walls, too. Spring cleaning might be a great opportunity to repaint
the kitchen if a simple washing won’t do.
Starting with the ceiling fan
and/or light fixture, clean the room from top to bottom. Dust off and
wipe down the ceiling fan/or light fixture and ceiling itself. Wipe
down counters, using a heavy duty grease and stain remover if
necessary. If your stove is self-cleaning, great. Give the outside of
the stove a good scrubbing. Next, do the same to the exterior of the
refrigerator, taking care to clean the coils behind the
fridge. Take the time to clean out the inside of the fridge,
too, throwing out spoiled or questionable dishes and packages.
Wash down the outside of
cabinets and counters, and then clean inside these areas thoroughly,
throwing away old boxes and packages of food and other items. Next,
start working on the windows. Save cleaning window exteriors for when
you’re reading to clean outside.
Spring is almost here, so
prepare for cleaning now.
